Pet Protocol

Let’s talk about our companion pets. Dogs and cats are carnivores.  Dog and cat foods today do NOT give our pets what they need to thrive.  In fact, they barely give them enough to survive.  All dogs and cats will benefit greatly from Essential Fatty Acids and Probiotics.  Most of us know by now that an unbalanced gut is the source of so many problems. Probiotics are a great way to balance the gut.  Essential Fatty Acids (specifically Fish Oil) are an excellent anti-inflammatory and so much more.

General Maintenance

(daily) for dogs and cats:

Essential Fatty Acids

(from fish oil) 1200 mg twice a day for dogs and once a day for cats

Probiotics

(broad spectrum with 12 strains or more) once a day (away from meals) for healthy looking/acting pets and twice a day for pets who are symptomatic.
Probiotics must be taken AWAY from meals.

Allergy/Itching Problems

One very common problem with dogs and cats is persistent itching.  When these symptoms appear, we recommend the following protocol in addition to Probiotics and EFA’s.

  • Liver Support – 1 twice a day.
  • Proteolytic Plus– 1 daily for pets up to 35 lbs. and one twice a day for pets over 35 lbs.
Proteolytic Plus must be taken away from food.

Gut Issues

Another common problem with dogs and cats is a variety of gut issues.  Gut symptoms often appear as loose stool, diarrhea, vomiting, *giardia and/or *coccida parasites, *parvovirus, and more.   When gut issues appear, we recommend the following protocol in addition to Probiotics and EFA’s.

  • Intestinal Support: 1 twice a day for pets up to 3 weeks.
  • Proteolytic Plus- 1 daily for pets up to 35 lbs. and one twice a day for pets over 35 lbs.
Proteolytic Plus must be taken away from food.

*Intestinal support is an excellent way to rebuild and balance the gut after parasites and Parvovirus.

Pancreatitis

Pancreatitis is another common problem with our companion animals. Improper diets deplete the digestive enzymes in the pancreas and cause it to become inflamed and overworked.  In order to prevent this challenge, a proper diet and digestive enzyme with each meal is your best decision.  Dogs, like people, have a limited number of digestive enzymes and once they are depleted, they must be added to the diet. We recommend a digestive enzyme with each meal at the beginning of the meal.
